Student Project - Portable Audiometer base on microcontroller 89S52

The audiometer is a device used by ENT specialists to measure the relativity of hearing loss in a person. The audiometer looks like a simple device similar to a volt meter in a sound system and the functionality is also somewhat similar. The audiometer, however, can work wonders for the diagnosis of hearing loss in a person.

It is mainly used to identify the severity of hearing loss among people. It exactly looks like the voltmeter that is used in amplifiers. The audiometer helps the ENT specialists in many ways.

The process begins with a diagnosis of hearing threshold pressing the start button. If the patient heard a noise, then the patient should press the Interrupt key, so that the microcontroller can record the amplitude and frequency. Microcontroller will control the DAC circuit, perform frequency selection and set the amplitude to be out of range of the DAC. Oscillator generates a frequency, the frequency will be selected by the multiplexer and amplified by the power amplifier signal then goes to the head phones. Examination results will be displayed on the LCD.

Oscillator circuit is a frequency generator circuit in accordance with what we need. In this project there are a series of oscillators of 7 pieces, each: 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1 KHz, 2 KHz, 4 KHz, and 8 KHz. The oscillator circuit using op-amp components as the basic circuit.
4051 multiplexer is used to select the frequency required by the DAC0808 series, to select channel, the multiplexer is controlled by three inputs A, B, and C

DAC circuit in this project is used to set the amplitude to be out, with input from the oscillator circuit and multiplexers, look at the picture, the output of the multiplexer circuit is connected to the + Vref of the DAC circuit.
